ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANCY SERVICES
Qualifications and Honours: Environmental Management System Certification
Environmental and Social Impact Assessment
- DEL conducts environmental and social impact assessment studies that meet the requirements of the Environmental Impact Assessment Decree No 86 of 1992, which stipulated the General Principles of Environmental Impact Assessment.Furthermore, we also conduct Category A projects which meet the requirements of the World Bank Operational Policy which was updated in 2011.
- Environmental Audit/Environmental Evaluation Studies/Reports (EES)
It is an investigative process to determine if an existing facility is in compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations. This service is essential to the environmental management process, as it complements associated field services aimed at analyzing environmental parameters;
- Environmental Compliance and Monitoring
Environmental Compliance means conforming to environmental laws, regulations, standards and other requirements such as site permits to operate. More recently, these are often referred to as ‘Environmental Data Management Systems’ (EDMS).
- Ambient Air Quality Monitoring
Air quality monitoring is performed using specialized equipment and analytical methods used to establish air pollutant concentrations. Interpretation of ambient air monitoring data often involves a consideration
- Environmental Baseline Studies
Baseline environmental studies are designed to establish the environmental conditions at a site prior to any site development. Once established, these “baseline” conditions then provide a benchmark against which to monitor and manage any potential future impacts resulting from industrial operations at the site. EBS is usually done over 2 seasons: wet and dry season.
- Environmental Management Plan
An Environmental Management Plan (EMP), also referred to as an impact management plan, is usually prepared as part of EIA reporting. It translates recommended mitigation and monitoring measures into specific actions that will be carried out by the proponent.
- Waste Management Studies
Waste management is all the activities and actions required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal. This includes amongst other things, collection, transport, treatment and disposal of waste together with monitoring and regulation.
- Environmental Due Diligence
Environmental Due Diligence assessments can vary in intent and scope, however generally include desktop and site investigations to identify environmental features, review of site history and confirmation of conditions on the ground to provide advice on the opportunities and constraints to potential development, and what further work or approvals may be necessary to accomplish development objectives.
- Dredging Environmental Management
DEL can provide clients with environmental advice and management of services on all aspects of dredge planning, monitoring and management. The marine component of the works may involve baseline Studies, dredging monitoring and environment managing plan, coastal processes investigation, hydro dynamic modeling, noise management and contamination investigation.
- Social Impact Assessment and Community Relations
Social Impact Assessment includes the processes of analysing, monitoring and managing the intended and unintended social consequences, both positive and negative, of planned interventions projects and any social change processes invoked by those interventions. The goal of social impact assessment is to bring about a more ecologically, socio-culturally and economically sustainable equitable environment. Impact assessment, therefore, promotes community development and empowerment, builds capacity, and develops social capital networks and trust.
- Pre and post drilling seabed surveys
Pre-drilling seabed survey involves sediment, seawater and benthic macro faunal sampling and chemical analyses for hydrocarbons in sediment samples, physiochemical characterization of seawater and species identification, abundance and diversity determination for macro benthic organisms. Post-drilling seabed survey involves sampling and analyses of sediment samples collected at a specific period after one or more drilling operations in the same offshore oil field.
- Environmental Rehabilitation
DEL can provide expert advice and regulatory compliance for all aspects of rehabilitation and restoration for your infrastructure project, from vegetation assessments, rehabilitation feasibility studies and on-ground implementation to monitoring, the reporting of compliance criteria and close out.
- Site Investigation & Monitoring
Site investigation and monitoring is conducted to perform an environmental site assessment, during which original samples of soil, groundwater, sediments, air quality and vegetation materials are collected to analyze quantitative values of various contaminants. This investigation is normally undertaken when the preliminary site investigation determines a likelihood of site contamination. For this reason, the scope of this detailed investigation, and therefore the collection of data, depends on the results of the first investigation phase as well as the requirements for the data, which are to be used in connection with the subsequent risk assessment.
- Ecotoxicology Assessment
Ecotoxicology is the study of the effects of toxic chemicals on biological organisms, especially at the population, community, ecosystem, and biosphere levels. Ecotoxicology is a multidisciplinary field, which integrates toxicology and ecology. The ultimate goal of this approach is to be able to predict the effects of pollution so that the most efficient and effective action to prevent or remediate any detrimental effect can be identified. In those ecosystems that are already impacted by pollution ecotoxicology studies can inform as to the best course of action to restore ecosystem services and functions efficiently and effectively.
- Industrial Hygiene
Industrial Hygiene is a science and art devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, prevention, and control of those environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace which may cause sickness, impaired health and wellbeing, or significant discomfort among workers or among citizens of the community. The goal of the industrial hygienist is to keep workers, their families, and the community healthy and safe. They play a vital part in ensuring that federal, state, and local laws and regulations are followed in the work environment.
